Class Cancellation   Leave a comment

As of today we are closed due to structural and environmental issues that may affect the safety of our athletes. We are waiting to hear back on the extent of damage and repair time. Keep an eye on Mindbody to see when classes will re-open. We hope the issues will be fixed fast and efficiently so we can all get back in the gym and set more PR’s!

Nutrient Density (or lack thereof) in Grains   1 comment

At the foundation of any good Strength & Conditioning program, is good nutrition. Here at CrossFit Forest City, you may have noticed we do not have many good things to say about “Heart Healthy Whole Grains.” There are several reasons for this, the simplest being the poor nutrient density of these foods. When we take in foods, we want to get more then just pure energy. Take a look at the table below, and ask yourself, what do you find in grains that you could not obtain from; meat, veggies, fruits, nuts & seeds?
